We
consider our school a place of creative teaching and creative play that
leads to and develops effective learning.
While
we don't place a strong emphasis on academic training, planned learning
activities are a part of each day's routine. Our curriculum is monthly
themes that are based on the
Saxon
Early Learning Curriculum as well as the United Methodist Association
of Preschools'' curriculum.
Our
teaching practices incorporate whole language with practical life skills
such as sorting, pouring, matching, and building. This enables a child
to develop strong pre-reading and pre-math skills, which serve as building
blocks for future academic years.
Our
developmentally appropriate curriculum provides for all areas of a child's
development: physical, emotional, social, cognitive and spiritual.
As
we share God's message with the children, we are intentional and deliberate
about including daily chapel and prayers, Bible verses,
and Bible stories.
We
wish, however, to serve the larger community regardless of religious
preference and affiliation. We DO NOT seek to impose
the doctrines of the United Methodist Church upon anyone.
Rather,
we seek only to instill in children a sense of God in all of life, while
remaining sensitive to the traditions and/or practices of the many varied
families we serve. We evaluate your child with Ages and Stages of the
Saxon Curriculum and also the Berganse Test. These are done at certain
milestones to assist in monitoring your child's development.
The Saxon Curriculum is an integrated early childhood program that provides
exciting and motivating materials that work together to inspire learning
and teaching in a smoothly organized classroom.
